Lane-keeping, automatic braking and adaptive cruise all look through your windshield. After a replacement, the camera has to be recalibrated — and we do it in-house, the same visit.
Most cars built since about 2018 have a forward-facing camera mounted to the windshield. Move that glass even a millimeter and the camera’s aim changes — enough for lane-departure warnings to fire late or emergency braking to misjudge distance. Manufacturers require recalibration after any windshield replacement. Tigris is Autel ADAS certified and performs static and dynamic calibrations in our Sacramento shop, so you don’t need a second trip to the dealer.

Static calibration uses precisely positioned targets in a level bay; dynamic calibration is a controlled road drive. Many vehicles need both.
A post-scan confirms every system reports calibrated. You receive the report for your records or your insurer.
Any vehicle with lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control or traffic-sign recognition — which is most Toyotas, Hondas, Subarus, Fords, Hyundais and Kias from the last several years, and nearly every new car sold today. If there’s a camera housing behind your rear-view mirror, you almost certainly need calibration after a windshield replacement.
The car will usually drive normally and may not show a warning light, which is exactly the problem: the systems appear to work but are aimed wrong. Skipping calibration can also affect an insurance claim after an accident. Because we do it in-house, the calibration is part of the same appointment as your windshield replacement.
